How Much Flooring Will I Need?
Flooring is sold by the box, or multiples, so your actual square footage will be rounded up to the nearest carton. Additionally, all hard surface flooring requires a percent of waste to be added for installation. The percentages vary depending on how much material you are having installed and will also vary based on the type of product selected (natural hardwoods generally require a greater factor than man-made laminate), conditions specific to your home, and the type of installation desired.
Trusted Home Services Approved Affiliates are reliable independent professionals who will provide you with a written estimate that reflects the materials needed for your specific application. On average, your independent installer will allow for at least a 10% overage in flooring material.
How will the flooring be delivered?
A&W flooring purchases through Costco.com include home delivery. You will be contacted in advance with a date and time of delivery. Your order will be delivered to the first covered area at your home. The carrier is not responsible for bringing the merchandise into your home, uncrating, installing or removing packing materials.
Inspect your flooring carefully upon delivery, and contact Trusted Home Services if any of the product is damaged, or if you have any concerns regarding the product.
Your wood flooring will need to be in your home for a minimum of 4 days prior to installation for proper acclimation. Windows and doors must be closed. Your air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems must be running for at least one week prior to the installation date with temperatures between 65ºF and 75ºF and indoor humidity 35% to 55%. The independent installer will complete a moisture test prior to installing all wood flooring.
Does A&W Floors offer "Aluminum Oxide Finishes" on their flooring?
Yes, in addition to exclusive "Anti-Scratch" and "Anti-Abrasive" coatings, A&W also offer the very hard Aluminum Oxide finishes on some of their product line. That can better protect your floor from normal wear and tear. Because of that, A&W is able to offer 25 years of finish wear warranty for their products. Eventually the floor will need to be screened and re-coated, or sanded and re-finished. With Aluminum Oxide and the exclusive "Anti-Scratch" and "Anti-Abrasive" coatings, the time between your next sanding will be greatly extended and this will save you money.
Where can laminate flooring be installed?
Anywhere in the home, as long as you have a structurally sound, clean, dry, and flat subfloor. A&W laminate flooring can be installed over wood, concrete ceramic tile, vinyl, and carpet that is no more than ¼” thick and completely adhered to suspended wood sub-floors.
Does my floor change color?
Like fine wine, all wood will "age" (darken) over time. The special UV-cured finishes we use are hard and durable but it IS sensitive to UV Rays. Prolong exposure to sunlight will slightly discolor the floor.
What type of cleaner should I use on my floor?
We recommend Bona® non-toxic wood floor cleaner, which is included with your A&W flooring purchase. Bona makes cleaning your floor is easy.
Never use any wax or cleaner that must be mixed with water such as oil soap, lemon oil, sprays, and liquid wax as this will damage the coatings and result in the loss of warranty. Please follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Can I refinish or recoat my laminate flooring?
No. Laminate is a high definition photograph and not an actual layer of the wood species, and cannot be refinished or sanded.
What are laminate floor molding options?
